Ituri Bituri is a contemporary lifestyle and fashion expression from Jaipur, the heart of the majestic Rajasthani heritage. Drawing on influences from the vibrant culture of Rajasthan, specifically its folklore and narratives, Ituri Bituri offers works of art, handcrafted with careful attention to detail by passionate artisans. 

The name Ituri Bituri itself is inspired by the age old Rajasthani tale of twin sisters Itturi and Bitturi, who as the legend goes, were great craftswomen tasked with creating a tale for their king and a piece of jewelry for his queen, for a hundred nights in a row. In return, their fellow villagers received the benevolence of the ruler during one of the most taxing times in their history. 

Itturi and Bitturi interwove stories into the jewelry, giving each piece a name symbolising who or what the story was about. The mesmerised king and his queen wanted the sisters to continue with their task forever, leading to innumerable breath-taking creations coming to life. The seemingly endless creativity of Itturi and Bitturi has led many to believe that they were more than human and endowed with superpowers.

Some believe they weren’t from Rajasthan but came from as far as Iran, Turkey, or even Scandinavia, while others suggest that their names indicate they were originally Japanese. 

Many believe that their original creations no longer exist and only fragments of their stories remain. But such is the nature of legends and folk tales that after fulfilling their historical purpose, they go on to live in abstract universes.
